burn down my body and mix me with paint. make something more beautiful than i could create. or put me in the reservoir downtown. force this whole damned city to choke me down. when they start to sweat me out, i will take with me all of their doubts. maybe i can finally better some lives. maybe it’ll happen when i die. or put me on a hillside as some kind of feast for all of the birds and all of the beasts. leave there my freshly picked bones. let them take them to build their little homes. somewhere to keep their little families and to keep them warm while they sleep. let me be some city in the countryside. maybe it’ll happen when i die. or put me in that old riverbed with a rock as a pillow beneath my head. let the silt rise up and envelope my feet as the earth comes to reclaim me. maybe a forest can grow there where lovers can lay their hearts bare. let love flow freely. let their hearts fill with light. maybe it’ll happen when i die. lay me out on that pyre. i’ll spell out my goodbyes in fire.
